Why there
The posted total is a first-pitch number. The game state is not. Runs score, the pitcher changes, leverage moves, and the remainder of the game is no longer the game that was priced before the first pitch. Total Signal exists so Plate Read can keep that distinction on the desk instead of treating the opening total as if it were still the game.
Why useful
You can see whether the live market still fits the remainder of the game, how far the signal has matured, and what the current delta is — or that no earned read exists yet. Awaiting, forming, and earned (including an earned-neutral read) stay distinct. That is useful because a first-pitch total does not update itself when the game does.
How it works
The live game state, opener, and current odds move the signal through Awaiting, Forming, and Earned. Once earned, the card places the market total beside the Cold Line remainder price and shows the gap between them.
