What is action in gambling? [The streak — blackjack, hand after hand] [The table can't miss — chips keep stacking] [On to the craps table — nobody walks away] That was Mississippi Grind — two hustlers riding a streak from the blackjack table to the craps table, never once cashing out. Every hand had money on it. That's what action looks like when it never stops. A wager or betting interest in an event. In some sportsbook rules, action can also describe whether a wager remains valid despite a listed-player or starting-pitcher change. In plain terms: if money is riding, you have action. And when a book grades a bet as action, it means the bet stands even though something about the listing changed. “I've got action on the late game.” Let's use this example. You bet a baseball game listed with a certain starting pitcher. Under that book's rules the wager is action even if the pitcher changes — the ticket stands. House rules differ, so know what your book counts as action before you bet. Lines and prices can differ by sportsbook. Nothing here guarantees a result or tells you to bet.
