What is the puck line in hockey betting? Hockey's version of the point spread, usually -1.5 / +1.5. In plain terms: hockey's spread is a standing goal and a half. Favorites must win by two; underdogs can lose by one and still cash. “The puck line is risky but pays more.” Let's use this example. The favorite is minus one eighty on the moneyline, or minus one and a half goals at plus one thirty on the puck line. A two-goal win pays the plus money. A one-goal win — very common in hockey — cashes the moneyline and burns the puck line. Late empty-net goals decide a lot of these. Lines and prices can differ by sportsbook. Nothing here guarantees a result or tells you to bet. Lines move and books differ. Nothing here is a guarantee or a command to bet — it's how the number works.
