What is a stale line in sports betting? A stale line is a sportsbook price or number that hasn't caught up to newer market-moving information. Check the timestamp, the market, the book, and whether the price is still available when you try to accept it. “I'm so over these dynamic live betting shops — always leaving up stale lines for sharps to take advantage of.” Let's use this example. At 1 PM, most books show Team A minus 5, while one book still displays minus 3 from 12:45. Verify the timestamp and availability; the older minus 3 may be stale. A stale number can move, be rejected, or be limited by house rules. Stale does not mean guaranteed value. Lines move and books differ. Nothing here is a guarantee or a command to bet — it's how the number works.
