The total amount of money you've set aside specifically for betting. In plain terms: Your betting piggy bank. Only bet with money you can afford to lose. Keep it separate from everyday money, so you always know exactly what betting is costing you. Most bettors size each bet as a small, steady percentage of their bankroll. If the bankroll is gone, betting stops — never top it up with money you need. “It's all about bankroll management — if you aren't disciplined, you too can wind up the next Joey Jacoby.” Let's use this example. For an illustrative $5,000 bankroll, 2 percent is a $100 stake: $5,000 times 0.02 equals $100. The percentage is an example, not a universal recommendation. Lines move and books differ. Nothing here is a guarantee or a command to bet — it's how the number works.
