The short answer
Two or more if-bets linked in both directions; each leg triggers the next with "action" (the chain proceeds even on a push or no-action leg).
What is an action reverse in sports betting? Two or more if-bets linked in both directions; each chain proceeds on a win, push, or no-action result under the named contract, while a loss stops that chain. “I placed an A and R on this game to make things interesting.” Let's use this example. This is a hypothetical fixed-risk Double Action Action Reverse with picks in two distinct games. Pick A is Kansas City minus three at minus one ten in Game A. Pick B is Buffalo plus four at minus one ten in Game B. In this named Double Action contract, the next fixed one-hundred-dollar ticket activates after a win, push, or no-action result. A loss stops only that direction. A push or no-action ticket returns its stake and adds zero to the net. This action reverse contains two simultaneous double-action if-bet chains: one hundred dollars on Kansas City, then one hundred dollars on Buffalo; and one hundred dollars on Buffalo, then one hundred dollars on Kansas City. Each one-hundred-dollar win at minus one ten earns ninety dollars and ninety-one cents. If both picks win, all four reached tickets win: four hundred dollars total staked, seven hundred sixty-three dollars and sixty-four cents aggregate return, and three hundred sixty-three dollars and sixty-four cents maximum profit. If both picks lose, only the two first legs lose, for a two-hundred-dollar maximum loss. One win and one loss nets a loss of one hundred nine dollars and nine cents. A win plus a neutral result nets one hundred eighty-one dollars and eighty-two cents. A loss plus a neutral result also reaches the two-hundred-dollar maximum loss, and two neutral results net zero. Lines move and books differ. Nothing here is a guarantee or a command to bet — it's how the number works.
