In plain terms: football games land on three and seven far more than any other margins — field goals and touchdowns. Numbers near them are worth real money. “I only take teasers that cross key numbers.” Let's use this example. Here are the real numbers. About fifteen percent of NFL games — roughly one in seven — are decided by exactly three points. Around nine percent land on exactly seven. Put those together and roughly a quarter of all NFL games finish on just those two margins. That's why minus two and a half is so much stronger than minus three and a half: one field goal sits between them, and fifteen percent of all games land right on it. Super Bowl fifty-seven finished exactly on three — Kansas City 38, Philadelphia 35, on a field goal with eight seconds left. And the books price it exactly this way: an ordinary half point costs about ten cents of juice to buy, but crossing the three costs around twenty-five — minus 110 becomes roughly minus 135. The price IS the proof of how much these numbers matter. Lines and prices can differ by sportsbook. Nothing here guarantees a result or tells you to bet. Lines move and books differ.
